Windows 10 devices revealed
In New York, Microsoft held a Windows 10 hardware event, where it announced updates to its HoloLens VR headset, a new Band wearable, two Lumia phones, the Surface Pro 4 tablet and the all-new Surface Book laptop.

A Myerson introduction
Terry Myerson, Microsoft's executive vice president of Windows and devices, kicks off the event.
HoloLens' Project X Ray
Microsoft demos HoloLens game Project X Ray. X Ray integrates augmented reality (or what the company calls "mixed reality") with gaming while you remains untethered. In effect, you move around shooting aliens that are trying to break into your living room. They're coming through the walls!
HoloLens coming early 2016
Microsoft is now taking applications for the HoloLens development kit, which will be available in Q1 2016 for $3,000 (about £2,000 or AU$4,200).
Microsoft's newest wearable
Microsoft exec Lindsey Matese (not pictured) introduces the new Band wearable, which has a curved OLED display, 11 sensors (including a heart-rate monitor, a barometer and GPS) and integration with Microsoft's digital and search assistant, Cortana.
Storing data on Microsoft Health
Matese also discusses Microsoft Health, where the exercise and other data collected by the Band is stored in the cloud. Health organizes and keeps track of your runs and recovery stats.
Available for $249
You can preorder the Band today, and it will be available in the US starting October 30 for $249. (UK and Australian prices and availability weren't announced, but the US price converts to £165 or AU$350.)
Panay introduces new Lumias
Panos Panay, who leads the development of all of Windows premium devices, takes the stage to introduce the new Microsoft Lumia smartphones.
The Lumia 950 and 950 XL
Panay holds up the Lumia 950, which has a hexa-core processor from Qualcomm and a 5.2-inch display. Its larger 5.7-inch counterpart, the Lumia 950 XL, has an octa-core processor.
Flagship-class cameras
The Lumias have a 20-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization, an RGB natural flash and a dedicated launch button. It can also record 4K video.
Equipped with USB Type-C
The devices also have 32GB of internal storage (with the option to expand via a microSD card), and USB Type-C ports.
Windows 10 in your pocket and your monitor
Continuum allows you to port over a PC experience from your phone or tablet. The dock allows you to connect your phone to a large monitor so you get a full Windows 10 experience.
Lumia unlocked pricing
The Lumia 950 will cost $549 (£360 or AU$770 converted). The 950 XL will cost $649 (around £425 or AU$910), both unlocked. A more affordable Lumia 550 (not pictured) will be available in December for $139 (£90 or AU$195).

Microsoft Surface Pro 4 boasts premium specs
The newly unveiled Pro 4 tablet is 8.4mm thick, has a 12.3-inch display (with 267 pixels per inch), 16GB of RAM, 1TB of storage and a sixth-generation Intel Core processor.
The magnetic Surface Pen
The tablet also comes with a stylus, which has a battery that lasts a year, a digital "eraser" and it attaches to the Pro 4 via magnets.
The tablet's ports and plugs
The Pro 4 has four USB 3.0 ports, two 4K DisplayPorts, and an Ethernet port.
Five keyboard cover colors
The tablet's scissor keyboard cover features island-style keys, a glass trackpad, a fingerprint reader and it comes in five colors.
Pro 4 availability and price
The Pro 4 will be available on October 26 for $899, with pre-orders beginning October 7. Again, UK and Australian prices and dates weren't mentioned, but the US price converts to £590 or AU$1,260.
Microsoft's inaugural laptop
In a surprise move, Microsoft also debuted its Surface Book, the first laptop built by the company.
Say hello to the Surface Book
The Surface Book has a 13.5-inch display with 267 pixels per inch, backlit keys, 12 hours of reported battery life and an Nvidia GeForce GPU.
Comparing with Apple rivals
According to Microsoft, the Surface Book is two times faster than Apple's 13-inch MacBook Pro.
A dynamic fulcrum hinge
The laptop has a "dynamic fulcrum hinge," which enables the display to detach and become a tablet, as well as flipped around or folded down.
Intel processor inside
The laptop has a sixth-generation Intel Core i7 processor behind the screen, with its GPU built in the base.
When to get the Surface laptop
The Surface laptop costs $1,499 and will be available October 26. Preorders begin October 7. (That US price converts to £985 or AU$2,085.)
CEO Nadella closes the show
