Meet LG's new family of L series phones (pictures)

Featuring the L90, L70, and L40, LG's entry- to mid-level family of smartphones makes an appearance at MWC 2014.

LG's L series trio

BARCELONA, Spain -- Days ahead of Mobile World Congress, CNET had the opportunity to go hands-on with LG's trio of entry-level and midrange devices, known as the LG L90, L70, and L40.

As the highest-tiered device of the L family, the L90 has an IPS display that measures 4.7 inches on the diagonal, and sports a reasonable 960x540 pixel resolution (qHD).

With a 1.2GHz quad-core chip humming away under the hood, the L90 doesn't skimp on power.

LG has packed in 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, as well as an 8-megapixel rear camera, joined by a 1.3-megapixel sensor in the front.

The middle child in LG's new lineup of 3G-only L-series devices, the 4.5-inch LG L70 is meant to bring an affordable Android option to emerging markets where it'll be sold.

On the L70, you'll get a 800x400 pixel resolution, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, and a 2,100mAh removable battery.

The 3G device will run Android 4.4 KitKat and includes expandable storage.
