The MKZ sits at the bottom of Lincoln's line-up, and shares its platform with the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan. In its last update, the MKZ acquired Lincoln's now standard winged grille. Stylistically, the MKZ Hybrid varies little from its conventionally engined counterpart.
The MKZ Hybrid uses the same power train as the Ford Fusion Hybrid. This system can propel the car under electric power for short distances, up to 47 mph. With its 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, the system produces 190 horsepower and gets about 40 mpg.
Most reviewers, CNET Car Tech included, likes the Ford Fusion Hybrid's driving experience, which didn't sacrifice performance for fuel economy. The MKZ Hybrid should offer the same performance.
The MKZ Hybrid benefits from Lincoln luxury and Ford technology. The cabin is decidedly upscale, with heated and cooled leather seats, and wood trim. On the tech side, it gets Sync and a THX audio system.
Like the Ford Fusion Hybrid, the MKZ Hybrid uses this SmartGauge for its instrument cluster. Drivers can configure the display to show different types of car performance information.
Typical for hybrids is this power flow animation that shows when the engine is running, and when electricity is flowing into or out of the battery pack.
