LG Optimus Me P350 gets egocentric in hands-on photos

Android phones are expensive, right? Wrong! C'mon guys, keep up -- budget Android mobiles are popping up everywhere these days. The LG Optimus One P500 was one of our favourites, so we're excited to see that LG has followed it up with another budget smart phone, the Optimus Me P350.

We went hands-on with the Optimus Me at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. We've already posted an in-depth preview for your delectation but, if that's just not enough, click through the photos above to check out the new face of Android affordability.

The Optimus Me has a smooth, rounded design, and weighs a paltry 108g. It measures 58 by 108 by 12mm, making it quite a small handset.

The phone runs Android 2.2 Froyo, Google's mobile operating system. That will permit you to fill the home screens with dynamic widgets, download apps from the Android Market, and watch Flash videos in the browser.

If this all sounds too good to be true, then prepare for a slide down the downside ride. The Me's 2.8-inch display is tiny and has an unimpressive resolution of 320x240 pixels. More problematic is that HTC has also announced a new budget mobile, the Wildfire S. It's similarly portable, but has a 3.2-inch screen with a higher resolution.

Still, we won't pass final judgement until we've had time to give the Optimus Me a thorough test.
