Lambo like whoa!
GENEVA--In a word, the Lamborghini Veneno is absolutely nuts. OK, so that's two words, but with one look at this uber-exclusive supercar, you'll understand what I mean.
Only four will be built
Lamborghini is only building four examples of the Veneno. All four models have the same gray-metallic finish. Three examples have unique red, green, or white accents.
Tri-color show car
The show car, displayed here, features tri-color accents making use of all three colors of the Italian national flag.
All about the aero
The Veneno is all about aerodynamics and downforce. The entire arrowhead-shaped front end of the vehicle is a massive wing, providing downforce and channeling air over the vehicle.
750 horsepower, 12 cylinders
Underneath the sheet metal, the Veneno is based on the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4. However, the Veneno's 6.5-liter, 12-cylinder engine's output has been boosted to 750 horsepower.
All-wheel-drive system
The Aventador's general proportions, gearbox, and all-wheel-drive system remain in place, but have been adjusted to cope with the increased horsepower and top speed.
Carbon fiber construction
The Veneno makes heavy use of ultralight carbon fiber and aluminum in its construction to keep weight down. All of the external panels are carbon fiber, as is the monocoque that underpins the vehicle.
Open rear end design
The rear end of the vehicle is a collection of diffusers, vents, and wings and spoilers. Low and centrally located, four square ports spew exhaust from the engine. The very open design of the rear end contrasts dramatically with the sharp and angular nose.
Dorsal fin
A large dorsal fin stretches from the peak of the Veneno's roof to rear wing. Besides looking cool, it aids in straight line stability.
Keeping it street legal
Ultrathin LED tail lights maintain street legality without sacrificing space that could be used for aerodynamics. However, the automakers has had to devote space to mounting a license plate.
Integrated LED headlights
Up front, Y-shaped LED headlights tuck into front fender pods that are reminiscent of the wheel pods of a LeMans Prototype racecar.
Light wheels with brake cooling
The staggered wheels are 20 inches up front and 21 inches on the rear. Each wheel is of lightweight alloy construction and has a carbon fiber ring attached to the rim that forces air over the carbon-ceramic brake disc with its turbine-like design.
$3.9 million worth of exclusivity
If you're interested in picking up a Veneno of your own, that's too bad because you can't. The three examples made available for sale have already been sold to customers for the astronomic price of $3.9 million each.
