Closer look at the Hydro Edge
LAS VEGAS -- Scheduled for a summer release via Sprint and Boost Mobile, the 3G-enabled Kyocera Hydro Edge runs Android 4.1 and can survive a dunk under a meter of water for 30 minutes.
Some stylish details
The Edge has a matte-gray plastic construction that, while simple, isn't particularly game-changing. However, compared with the original Hydro's glossy plastic design, the Edge's build feels a bit more luxurious and chic.
Glancing at the touch screen
The handset has a 4-inch IPS touch-screen display, with a 800x480-pixel resolution and 233ppi. Though you won't be able to watch the crispest HD movies on it, text and icons still displayed clearly and smoothly when I viewed it.
A shortcut camera key
The device measures 4.9 inches tall, 2.5 inches wide, and 0.39 inch thick. In addition, it weighs 4.5 ounces. Here, you can see that the right edge houses a shortcut button that launches the camera.
Keeping the back secure
On the back you'll find the camera with its LED flash, and a small slit for the speaker. To remove the battery door, you'll need to switch the toggle lock at the bottom.
5MP camera in the rear
The Edge is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor and a 1,600mAh battery. Among its other hardware features is a 5-megapixel camera, which includes photo editing features such as panoramic and HDR shooting.
