Kodak Playsport (photos)
Take a closer look at the new rugged pocket camcorder from Kodak, the Playsport.
The Kodak Playsport is essentially a waterproof version of the company's Zi8 model. Regardless of its capability to survive a dunk down 10 feet underwater and keep shooting, the Playsport is a nicer design with rounded corners, a smaller body, and well-spaced buttons.
The camera will be available in Abyss (black), Wave Crash (blue), and Adrenaline Rush (purple) for $149.95 beginning in April 2010. Oh, and it has a nice wide-angle lens, to boot.
Sorry about the blurry photo, but what you're looking at is the HDMI out, Mini-USB port, and power jack.
Just a picture of the port door closed. The big missing feature from this model is a built-in USB cable. It was cut from the design because Kodak would've needed to make the body bigger in order to cover it with a waterproof hatch.
The other side has the door with the battery and an SDHC card slot for memory cards up to 32GB, which can record up to 10 hours of HD video.
One of the other major differences from the Zi8 is the inclusion of the LCD Glare Shield that gives you two filters (the black-and-white one is pictured here) to choose from that help you see your subject on the display screen in reflective outdoor situations. The filters are applied only to the screen--not to your final video.
