Getting started

Plug the hub in, and plug it into your router. From there, download and open the Insteon+ app on your iOS device (sorry, Android users), and follow the on-screen instructions to get your system started.

Extra hardware

With the hub online, you'll be able to sync Insteon devices like this lamp dimmer with the HomeKit programming in your iPhone's operating system. That means you'll be able to use it alongside other HomeKit-compatible gadgets, and control it using Siri, too.

On/Off control

You could also add this Insteon on/off plug to your setup. It looks just like the lamp dimmer, but you'll use it to turn anything you plug in on and off using your phone.

In Insteon's app, you'll select your home to see any zones or rooms you've set up. Select a room to see the devices in it. Select a device to control it, or adjust its settings.

Price point

The Insteon Hub Pro sells for $150, which is $50 more than the standard, non-HomeKit-compatible version of its hub. Is it a smart buy for the smart home? Check out our full review for the full story.
