Honeycomb start screen
Microsoft is showing off Windows Mobile 6.5, an update to its phone operating system, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. The update, however, won't start showing up on phones until the fourth quarter of the year.
Microsoft says its new "honeycomb" start screen is designed to both look better and be easy for even those with fat fingers to make sure they open the program they want.
Lock screen
The screen that shows when the phone is locked is designed to still offer information such as upcoming appointments and incoming messages.
New Internet Explorer Mobile
With Windows Mobile 6.5, Microsoft is updating its Web browser, which is based on the desktop version of Internet Explorer 6. The new browser, while still lacking the pinch zooming of Safari on the iPhone, aims to make it easier to zoom in and out.
