Huawei Vitria gets the job done (pictures)

This entry-level prepaid handset isn't anything special, but it does offer up a sturdy Android package for a reasonable price.

Huawei Vitria has five themes on Android

By all accounts, the Huawei Vitria is a straightforward Android starter smartphone. Look inside the settings, though, and you'll find five themes that can jazz up the phone's wallpaper, icon style, and more.

Screen and things

A 4-inch display is about par for the course with the Vitria; three capacitive buttons handle navigation.

Camera

The 5-megapixel camera took some decent casual snaps, and is accompanied by an LED flash. It also takes 720p HD video capture.

Under the hood

Peel back the cover to find the microSD card slot below. You'll need it; there's only 4GB of memory total, and only 1.9 that you can play with.

Thick and heavy

At almost 5 ounces and 0.46 inch thick, the Vitria makes its presence known.

Back it up

The soft-touch finish is plain, and comfortable enough, but perhaps not as grippy as it could be.

Other specs

The Vitria's dual-core processor works fine, but it's the network's faster 4G speeds, now faster since T-Mobile took over, that gives Metro customers on its cheaper plans something to get excited about.
