BARCELONA, Spain -- The Huawei MediaPad X1 is a 7-inch tablet with a skinny metal frame, a full-HD display, 4G LTE connectivity and can make calls and send SMS messages, exactly like your phone. It's due to go on sale in the UK later in the year, although Huawei wouldn't say how much it'll cost, or where else it was be available.
Its metal body is quite good looking.
That's the SIM card slot. Pop a SIM card in and use it just as you would your phone.
It's very slender. You certainly won't struggle popping it into your jacket pocket.
I'm quite keen on the blue shade.
There's a speaker at the top of screen to help you make calls.
A 13-megapixel sits on the back.
And an impressive 5-megapixel camera is on the front. Ideal for video calling and taking hundreds of selfies.
You'll find the loudspeaker at the bottom on the back.
The 3.5mm headphone jack is on the top.
While the Micro-USB port is on the bottom.
It's running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. That's far from recent.
Huawei has popped its Emotion UI over the top of Android though so it's not immediately noticeable that it's an old version of software.
You can customise the interface with various themes.
The themes change the background, the colour schemes...
...and even the app icons.
