Huawei's new Ascend P1 announced at CES 2012 is one of the first smartphones we've seen running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The unlocked global device is also superthin and sports a slick metallic paint job. In hand, it feels slim, trim, and very sexy.

Viewing the Ascend P1 from the side highlights its trim profile. You can also see its tiny volume controls and the shiny red-metal styling of the model we got out hands on.

The back of the Ascend P1 houses its 8-megapixel camera and LED flash array as well as an arresting metallic-red glossy coating. We bet we're not alone in thinking it looks a lot like Samsung's Galaxy S II phones here, complete with a back rear bump on its bottom edge.

On back of the Ascend P1 sits a flap covering a microSD card slot plus a tiny power button. Due to the phone's trim size, that power button felt stiff and hard to press.

The top edge of the Ascend P1 holds its micro-USB port and a standard 3.5mm headphone jack.
