HTC Wildfire S
First introduced at Mobile World Congress 2011, the HTC Wildfire S is now available from T-Mobile for $79.99 with a two-year contract and after a $50 mail-in rebate.
Features
Though it's more of an entry-level model, the Wildfire S still offers a decent feature set that includes Android 2.3 Gingerbread, a 5-megapixel camera, and Wi-Fi calling.
Design
The Wildfire S has a solid build quality and comes in black or white. At 4 inches tall by 2.3 inches wide by 0.49 thick, the handset is pretty compact and has a smaller 3.2-inch HVGA touch screen, which might pose a problem for users with larger fingers.
Left side
The left spine of the phone features a volume rocker and a Micro-USB port.
Top view
On top of the device, you'll find the power button and 3.5mm headphone jack.
Camera
The Wildfire S includes a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash. It can also record video up to 640x480-pixel resolution, but there's no front-facing camera for video calls.
Picture quality
Picture quality wasn't particularly impressive. The camera did OK when taking photos outdoors, but indoor shots came out soft and had a pinkish-gray hue.
