Head-to-head: Twitter vs. Instagram filters (pictures)
Twitter on Monday released a new version of its mobile app featuring filters that directly competes with Instagram. CNET compared one photo using all of Twitter's and all of Instagram's free filters.
No filter
With Twitter having released a new version of its mobile app on Monday that allows users to add filters, it is now competing directly with Instagram. But while Instagram offers 18 free filters, Twitter launched with just eight.
Still, it is interesting to compare what each of those basic filters look like. So CNET took a single photograph and filtered it using every available basic option in both Twitter and Instagram.

One advantage Twitter's filter feature offers over Instagram's is a grid showing how any photo will look using each of the initial eight available filters.
