Geeksphone Peak, a high-end Firefox OS phone (pictures)

The world got its first look at the Geeksphone Peak, the higher-end model from the Spanish phone startup, at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

Stephen Shankland
Stephen Shankland worked at CNET from 1998 to 2024 and wrote about processors, digital photography, AI, quantum computing, computer science, materials science, supercomputers, drones, browsers, 3D printing, USB, and new computing technology in general. He has a soft spot in his heart for standards groups and I/O interfaces. His first big scoop was about radioactive cat poop.

Firefox OS clock and alarm app

Firefox OS includes a clock app, unsurprisingly, which you can use to set alarms. The Geeksphone Peak has a fairly sharp 4.3-inch QHD screen.

Firefox OS task switcher

A long-press on the home button invokes the task switcher. This view shows one rough edge on the experience: the horizontally oriented Cut the Rope app doesn't fit well in the vertically oriented thumbnail.
