Garageio teaches your old garage new tricks (pictures)
Now your garage can talk to Amazon Echo and IFTTT
Garageio is available for one-door, two-door and three-door garages. And it connects all those doors to an app, Amazon Echo and IFTTT.
Garageio provides personalized instructions for setup depending upon the make and model of your opener. After setup is done, the device is reliable enough that you won't have to worry about it.
Setup is involved, requiring work with wires, screwdrivers and ladders. But the device itself is clearly labeled, and the process shouldn't give you too much grief.
The Garageio app is simple to use, and its functions are about the same as the controller you already have clipped to your car's sun visor.
Garageio is compatible with most garage door openers, but you can find a full list on their website.
Garageio provides loads of extra wire for setup, but you'll want to secure the extra rolls out of the way of the moving chain.
For Amazon Echo integration, you can install the Garageio skill on the Alexa app.
Garageio can send you push notifications (or tell you via Alexa) if your garage is left open during the day.
My favorite integration was using IFTTT to get my garage to automatically open when I approached it in my car.
Garageio is available for $199, $209 and $219 -- for one-door, two-door and three-door devices. For more details check out our full review.
