Gallery: Apple's new 27-inch iMac
Apple has updated its iMac line with larger, widescreen displays, more powerful specs, and a few extra features to sweeten the deal.
Apple's new 27-inch iMac features edge-to-edge display glass, a LED-backlit screen, and 2,560x1,440 display resolution. The $1,699 starting model has a 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, 4GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive
Apple didn't add Blu-ray to the new iMacs, but in addition to the slot-loading DVD burner, Apple has also added an SD Card reader.
The ports on the back of the new iMac remain the same except for the mini DisplayPort. Now they're bi-directional, which means you can use the iMac as a second display from any video source that can work with a mini DisplayPort adapter.
The new iMacs also feature an all-aluminum chassis and edge-to-edge glass, imparting a more industrial feel than the aluminum and dark gray polycarbon exterior on older iMacs.
