Screen lock and brightness controls

Scroll all the way to the left while in multitasking mode for more controls. The slider on the left gives you brightness controls in a convenient location, and the button at the left toggles your screen lock on and off.

Game Center for iPad

Already starting to pick up steam on the iPhone since the 4.0 release, Game Center on the iPad brings the social-gaming connector to the big screen.

Spotlight search additions

Now when you search for something in Spotlight on iOS 4.2 for the iPad, you get the added options of being able to search the Web on Google or Wikipedia for more info.

Search for words

Another useful addition is the single-word search option. Enter a search term in the Safari search box on the iPad and get the option to see every instance of the word on that Web page.

A long-awaited feature for iPad users, AirPrint makes it possible to search for local printers--a big deal for those who use the iPad in business settings.
