Big TVs for dad's big day

Does he deserve the ulimate in picture quality this Father's Day? If you can afford an F8500, he'll love becoming an owner of the last great plasma TV.

Available in 60- and 70 inches, Sharp's entry-level bigscreen delivers the dad-pleasing goods: lots of screen and very good picture quality for the buck.

A step up from the Sharp in quality, and cost Sony's 60- and (gasp) 70-inch KDL-W850B, with its ultra-quick input lag, is perfect for the video gaming dad.

Is he the kinda dad who values style and substance? Samsung's F8000 provides the best mix of picture quality, features and design.

And if he prizes style, substance and value, Vizio's M series is almost as good as the Samsung for a lot less money.

Every dad knows the ultimate in big-screens is a projector. And the ultimate in projector picture quality is the JVC DLA-X700R.

OK, so maybe the JVC is a little expensive. Fir a third the price, the Epson 5030UB will fill dad's wall with more home theater awesomeness than he'll know what to do with.

So dad knows everything about 4K TVs yet still wants one. Samsung's UNF9000 is the best from the crop of 2013, and the only with the future-readiness to this year's 4K content (with the optional OneConnect box). The 2014 models are coming soon and may be even better, however.
