Facebook Camera released for the iPhone (pictures)

Facebook Camera is now available in the App Store. With the new app, Facebook users are now able to easily apply filters and then upload and share photos with their Facebook friends. Here's how to get started with the new app.

When you first launch the app, it will detect the Facebook account tied to your device and ask if you'd like to log in using that account. Tap on "Not You?" if you'd like to log in using a different Facebook account.

After logging in, you're immediately shown photos your Facebook friends have uploaded or are tagged in. You can like or comment on a photo by tapping on the familiar icons, or tap on the photo to see a larger version of the photo.

At the top of the screen you'll see a camera icon, as well as thumbnails of photos in your Camera Roll. By sliding the Photo Stream all the way down, you'll reveal more of your photos, allowing you to choose which photo(s) to edit.

You can either tap on a single photo to edit it, or tap on the small circle with a check mark to select a group of photos for upload. To upload a group of photos, after selecting all of those you want to include, tap on the Compose button in the lower-right corner.

While there aren't many options available in the first version of Facebook Camera, you are able to crop or add a filter to your photo. Tap on the crop icon to easily adjust the size of the photo, or get rid of that random person in your photo.

You can crop your photo by dragging any edge of the box you see overlaid on the photo. You can also rotate the photo by tapping on the rotate icon in the middle of the bar along the bottom. Once you're happy with the photo, tap on the check mark to save the changes.

Similar to Instagram, the Facebook Camera app allows you to apply filters to photos before sharing on Facebook. You have a total of 14 filters to choose from. Once you're satisfied with your cropped and newly retro photo, you can tap on the Compose button to upload it. Or, if you would like to tag someone in the photo, tap on the Filter button again to hide the filters. Then tap on the person you'd like to tag in the photo.

After tapping on the photo you're able to add a tag to it. Start typing the person's name, and then pick the person's name from the list.

If you forgot to tag someone in the photo, you can add that person to it on the upload screen, as well as add a location and control your privacy settings for the photo. Once you've entered a comment to accompany the photo, tap on Post.
