Somebody call the fashion SWAT team -- Asus' Seashell range of Eee PC netbooks just started batting for another team -- a team captained by fashion demigod (and Sasha Baron Cohen lookalike) Karim Rashid.
This Eee Seashell 1008P Karim Rashid series, unveiled at the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, takes the Seashell range to flamboyant new territory. Its lid has a weird, undulating surface texture of peaks and valleys that create mesmerising shadows. Its keyboard section is constructed of soft plastics that Asus reckons you'll enjoy stroking. It's certainly pretty, but we reckon it'll need a brave man, woman or person of unspecified gender to really pull it off.
We've no concrete word on the 1008P's internal specification, but we're willing to bet there's an Intel Atom CPU lurking under its vivacious little chassis. What we can tell you is that it uses 1GB of RAM, has a 10.1-inch 1,024x600-pixel display, a 250GB hard drive and runs Windows 7 -- which is all relatively standard fare.
We've only spent a few minutes with this thing, but so far we reckon it makes a pleasant change from the cookie-cutter netbooks that are fouling up the market. Asus tells us it'll be available this February for around £400. Click the 'Continue' link below for more pics.
