Check out Twitter's elegant new Asia HQ in Singapore

The social media company's new digs sit right at the heart of the island's central business district. Its design is inspired by local culture.

It's not all bad news for Twitter -- the company celebrated the opening of its new Asia Pacific headquarters here in Singapore and invited us to take a look at its swanky new digs.

The company plans to create more than 100 new jobs and the office here will cater to growing demands from users, partners and advertisers.

Near the reception counter is an installation piece made by a local art school. The Twitter logo is formed from blue twine linking the region's capital cities.

Upon closer inspection you'll find the first tweet made from each official country account.

The Twitter Commons area played host to the launch, with bean bags scattered all over for employees to chill out.

That's not its normal look -- the Commons area is usually packed with tables for staff to meet and chat.

This is but the first of many hashtags we spotted around the office.

Over at the other end of the Commons was a board with Twitter's aspirations.

Next to the Commons is the game room, where employees can chill out with a game of table football or table tennis.

Twitter also has a library, though the collection seems a little sparse.

The office's distinctive design is influenced by Singapore's cultural heritage. The floor tiles here are of Peranakan influence, which you can find out more about here.

Because Twitter is looking to expand its headcount, there were desks that have yet to be filled. You'll notice that the company offers employees desks that allow them work while standing.

The doors in the office have a very old-school feel. These are meeting rooms, all named after birds.

Yet another hashtag.

Adorning the partitions that break up the office at regular intervals are money plants.
