The Haiku with SenseMe from Lexington, Ky.-based manufacturer Big Ass Fans is the first connected ceiling fan. It's about as luxurious as it gets, but it comes at a steep price. Click onward for more.

The Haiku features carefully crafted airfoils in place of the standard flat blades.

Each Haiku is crafted from materials like glass-infused matrix composite or sustainable Moso bamboo.

Each Haiku is also hand-balanced at the Big Ass Fans factory using a 13-step process. This guarantees smooth, silent, wobble-free performance.

You can control your Haiku with a physical remote, too.

The Haiku is already high-end, but for an extra $150, you'll now be able to add in the connected smarts of SenseMe, which utilizes motion detectors, temperature and humidity sensors, and built-in Wi-Fi.

The Haiku with SenseMe can learn from your cooling habits. Once it figures out the temperature you like, it will automatically turn on or speed up whenever it gets too hot.

For an extra $95, you can add in an integrated smart LED halo.

You'll be able to control, program, and monitor your connected Haiku using a free smartphone app.

Initially, the app will only be available for iOS, with no dedicated iPad app. Android users will have to wait 6 to 12 months.

Blue indicator lights in the center of the Haiku will let you know how fast it's spinning. You can turn these off if they bother you.

The Haiku with SenseMe is due out at the end of July, and will retail for $1,045 (or $1,140 if you add in the smart LED). Still a fan?
