Carbon for Android makes Twitter look good (pictures)

We take a look at Carbon, one of the most visually stunning Twitter clients we've seen for Android.

Jaymar Cabebe
Jaymar Cabebe covers mobile apps and Windows software for CNET. While he may be a former host of the Android Atlas Weekly podcast, he doesn't hate iOS or Mac. Jaymar has worked in online media since 2007.

Less is more

With its clean lines and minimalist design, Carbon is one of the best-looking Twitter clients we've seen on Android.

An extra toolbelt

Hit the menu key at the bottom to bring up the extra sidebar of navigation tools. From here you can access things like trends, search, and lists.

It's all in the details.

A nifty animation zooms in on and rotates a tweet as you view the conversation around it. Details like this add to the overall polished feel of Carbon.

List support

Via the pop-out menu on the right side of the screen, you can access your Twitter lists. A drop-down menu lets you switch among them.

I spy a red flag

Unfortunately, Carbon can only refresh your timeline every 15 minutes. This might be a deal breaker for some power users who want updates more frequently.

What was her name again?

Conveniently, Carbon can auto-complete usernames. This is a feature that competitor Falcon Pro is sorely missing.

Profile

Carbon even lets you edit your Twitter profile, something that many other clients don't do.
