iPhone 6S, 6S Plus, 6 and 6 Plus cases galore

2 of 71 Speck

Speck MightyShell + Faceplate

All of Speck's "old" iPhone 6 cases are compatible with the new iPhone 6S (the same is true of its iPhone 6 and 6S Plus cases). Its MightyShell + Faceplate combines a case and a faceplate screen protector in a compact package that proves excellent protection. It starts at $50 for the iPhone 6 version (some colors cost more). Add $5 for the 6 Plus.

3 of 71 Otterbox

Otterbox Defender Series

Otterbox's flagship tough case, the Defender Series ($50), is now available for the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. While it isn't waterproof, it does have a built-in screen protector. Available in many different color options.

otterbox-symmetry-series.jpg
4 of 71 Otterbox

Otterbox Symmetry Series

Otterbox's slim but protective Symmetry Series is Otterbox's answer to Speck's Candyshell cases. It's available in multiple color options for $40 and fits the iPhone 6/6S and comes in a version for the iPhone 6 Plus/6S Plus for $10 more.

For the same price there's also a version with a clear back called the MySymmetry Series.

zagg-shockguard.jpg
5 of 71 Sarah Tew/CNET

Zagg Shockguard

Zagg makes a couple of attractively designed cases for the iPhone 6/6S and iPhone 6 Plus/6S Plus, including its durable Shockguard case, which retails for $30 and comes in a few color options. The $25 Dropguard sports a similar design but is a slightly slimmer case.

spigen-neo-hybrid-metal20.jpg
6 of 71

Spigen Neo Hybrid Series

Spigen's Neo Hybrid Series of cases returns for the iPhone 6S (it also works with the iPhone 6 and comes in a version for the iPhone 6 Plus/6S Plus). Available in different trim colors.

Price: Around $20 (£15, AU$22)

spigen-ultra-hybrid-tech-gunmetal17.jpg
7 of 71 Amazon

Spigen Ultra Hybrid Tech Series

Spigen's Ultra Hybrid Tech Series reminds me of Tech 21's cases -- both in terms of look and feel. With a clear back, it comes in a variety of trim colors and offers decent protection (it's "military-grade" drop tested) in a slim case that has some nice grip to it. Depending on the color, you're looking at a price of $15-$19.

Note: This is one of Spigen's newer cases, released in the fall of 2015. Other new models include the Tough Armor Tech and Thin Fit Hybrid. All are good cases for reasonable prices.

mophie-juice-pack-rserve-collection.jpg
8 of 71 Mophie

Mophie Juice Pack Reserve

Mophie has created a lighter, slimmer and more affordable battery case: The Juice Pack Reserve ($60).

The adds .3 inches of thickness to your phone and weighs a shade less than 3 ounces.

The only downside is that its 1,840mAh battery provides 60 percent extra battery life rather than a full 100 percent or more Mophie's earlier iPhone 6 cases, the Juice Pack Air ($100) and Juice Pack Plus ($120) provide more juice but are more expensive and add more bulk to your phone.

It's also worth mentioning that since the headphone jack is covered by the bottom of the case, some larger headphone plugs may not be compatible with the case with out using a heaphone adapter. (Mophie doesn't include a headphone adapter with this case like it does with its step-up battery cases).

All of Mophie's battery cases are equipped with the company's "smart charging circuitry" to deliver the right amount of power for a "safe, quick charge."

The Juice Pack Reserve ships in mid October and comes in 5 different color options. It will not be available initially for the iPhone 6 Plus/6S Plus.

moshi-iglaze-lux.jpg
9 of 71 Moshi

Moshi iGlaze Luxe

Moshi has a few new cases arriving for the iPhone 6S, including the slick iGlaze Luxe, which keeps your iPhone looking like an iPhone. It comes in four different color options and costs $50.

speck-candyshell-inked.jpg
10 of 71 Speck

Speck CandyShell Inked

Speck's CandyShell Inked iPhone 6 cases are available in several striking designs. The Inked has been one our favorite cases for the last couple of years and it fits both the iPhone 6 and 6S (6/6S Plus versions are also available).

The Inked carries a list price of $39.95 but can be found for closer to $30. The case also comes in a Luxury Edition, which retails for $50 and comes in a variety of eye-catching designs with metallic finish.

otterbox-strada-series.jpg
11 of 71 Otterbox

Otterbox Strada Series

Otterbox now offers a pretty swanky folio-style case, the Strada Series ($50), that offers strong protection in a more stylish package. The case is available in two colors and the cover remains shut, thanks to a magnetic clasp.

The only downsides to the case are that it doesn't convert into a stand and it only holds one credit card and a bill or two. But that's better than nothing.

puregear-slim.jpg
12 of 71 PureGear

PureGear Slim

We liked PureGear's Slim and DualTek cases for the iPhone 6, which cost $25 and $35 respectively in multiple color options (converted, about £15 or AU$28 for the Slim, and about £16 or AU$40 for the DualTek).

With the release of the iPhone 6S, we get two new models: The Puregear Slim Pro Shell ($30) and the DualTek Pro ($40). I like the look of the two new models better, but they are slightly more expensive -- at launch anyway.

otterbox-symmetry-series-leather.jpg
13 of 71 Otterbox

Otterbox Symmetry Series Leather

Otterbox makes a few special-edition versions of its Symmetry Series cases, including some that have graphics from well-known designers like Nina Garcia. But it's limited-edition Leather Edition case is the best of the bunch and one of the best iPhone cases out there. It's a premium case at $50, but it's both protective and swanky. My only gripe with the case is that the Otterbox logo isn't a bit smaller on back.

speck-candyshell-grip-39-95.jpg
14 of 71 Speck

Speck CandyShell Grip

Speck's CandyShell Grip has been around for a while, and it's now available for the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus starting at $39.95.

spigen-tough-armor-tech.jpg
15 of 71

Spigen Tough Armor Tech

If you're looking for some additional protection, you can step up to Spigen's Tough Armor Tech, which costs a little more than the company's slimmer cases at around $23.

padquill-little-pocketbook-69-99.jpg
16 of 71 Pad&Quill

Pad&Quill Little Pocket Book for iPhone 6

Pad & Quill, which makes swanky handmade folio-style wallet cases, has both iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S versions of its Little Pocket Book case (my personal P&Q favorite) for $69.99. It comes in brown or black.

dodocase-lorna-wallet-case.jpg
17 of 71 David Carnoy/CNET

Dodocase Lorna Wallet Case

Like Pad & Quill, Dodocase made a name for itself selling handcrafted book-style cases for iPads and iPhones. The leather-bound Lorna, which holds three credit cards comfortable, is arguably the company's nicest wallet case. You get a few different color options and the leather changes colors as it gets worn in. Price for the iPhone 6/6S version is $65 while the 6/6S Plus version will set you back $75.

moshi-iglaze-napa-for-iphone-6s.jpg
18 of 71 Moshi

Moshi iGlaze Napa

Moshi's new iGlaze Napa adds a swanky faux leather back for a more executive look and feel. Comes in four different color options for $45.

moshi-iglaze-ion-iglaze-ion-titanium2.jpg
19 of 71 Moshi

Moshi iGlaze Ion

I tried out the black version of this slider case/battery pack combo from Moshi. It combines the company's slickly designed iGlaze case with a battery pack that doubles the battery life of your iPhone. Thus the name iGlaze Ion.

What's nice about it is that if you want to go more minimalist, you can detach the battery pack and leave it home or in your bag. What's not so great is that like a lot of slide-on case/battery pack combos, this one is a bit bulky and is somewhat pricey at $100. However, it is one of the more attractive looking versions of a slide-on battery case that you'll find out.

Note: It includes a headphone adapter.

ballistic-jewel-spark.jpg
20 of 71 Ballistic

Ballistic Jewel Spark

Ballistic is known for its tough cases, but I personally like the Jewel ($20) and this year's Jewel Spark, which adds some color in the corners for $5 more.

rokform-clear-slim.jpg
21 of 71 Rokform

Rokform Sport Sport v3 w/ Car Magnetic Dash Mount

Rokform is known for its rugged cases that feature a mounting system. Its Clear Slim case, available in three color options, includes a magnet mount that you can use in your car (you simply stick the magnet to your dashboard) or anywhere else you want to mount your phone.

The case is compatible with Rokform's wide selection of additional mounting accessories.

The Clear Slim case is available for the iPhone 6 ($39) and iPhone 6 Plus ($49) and comes in a variety of colors.

lunatik-architek.jpg
22 of 71 Lunatik

Lunatik Architek

Lunatik makes some rugged cases, including an upcoming waterproof model called the Taktik 360, but it also has some nice slim cases in its line. The Architek features a transparent outer hardshell and co-molded, shock-absorbing inner Diagrid or diagonal grid core that's inspired by Chicago's structural architecture. Its eye-catching design comes in a few color options, including black, pink, purple, and blue. Cost: $35. At this time it's only available for the iPhone 6/6S.

lander-case-23.jpg
23 of 71 Sarah Tew/CNET

Lander Powell Case

Lander is a new iPhone case brand and its first case is the Powell, which comes in a few different color options, including, blue, black, clear, and green. It's a relatively slim case that has a unique look and offers decent protection. The case has textured edges and a set of ridges on back that are "inspired by reinforced steel containers" to add strength to the case. The Powell is available for iPhone 6/6S and iPhone 6 Plus/6S Plus and will get wider distribution in the coming months.

While the case is a tad expensive at $35, its packaging converts into a travel case for storing cables (lander also sells Lightning cables) or your in-ear headphones. That's a nice extra.

urban-armor-trooper.jpg
24 of 71 Urban Armor

Urban Armor Trooper

If you're looking for a tougher case that also has a compartment for storing credit credits and cash, Urban Armor now is serving up its Trooper case for the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus for $40. It's a little bulky but definitely protective and the door on the compartment snaps securely shut and blends into the back of the case nicely.

Price: $40

rokform-rokfolio46.jpg
25 of 71 Rokform

Rokform RokFolio

The RokFolio is a first for Rokform: a folio-style case.

It offers the same mounting options as other Rokform cases but also has an integrated cover to protect your screen (it serves as a stand in landscape mode) with slots on the inside to stow credit cards.

The RokFolio is available for both the iPhone 6/6S and 6 Plus/6S Plus, with a retail price of $45 and $55, respectively. Black only for now.

tech21-evo-mesh-sport.jpg
26 of 71 Screenshot by David Carnoy/CNET

Tech21 Evo Mesh Sport

Tech21 has a full assortment of cases for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus and while currently only the Evo Mesh Sport series ($40) is listed as being compatible with the iPhone 6S/6S Plus, the company says its legacy iPhone 6 and 6 Plus cases fit the "S" models.

I was a fan of the Classic Frame case ($34.99) that comes in clear and smokey backs, but the Evo Mesh Sport is equally appealing.

For $5 more, the Classic Shell with Cover gives you some added protection for your screen.

lifeproof-case-01.jpg
27 of 71 Sarah Tew/CNET

Lifeproof Fre

Lifeproof, now owned by Otterbox, is the leader in waterproof cases and its iPhone 6 and 6 Plus cases ($80-$130) are available in three models: the Fre (full screen coverage), Nuud (no screen protection but still waterproof), and the Fre Power, which integrates a battery that doubles the battery life of your iPhone (it has full screen coverage).

Lifeproof's Nuud case for iPhone 6S and 6S Plus cases are now available after a lengthy delay in their production.

otterbox-statement-front-and-back.jpg
28 of 71 Otterbox

Otterbox Statement Series

Otterbox has a new Statement Series case for the iPhone 6/6S that looks both cool and a little odd at the same time.

That's because two-thirds of the case on the back is translucent but the lower-third is covered in swanky premium leather.

Usually Otterbox cases have a good-sized Otterbox logo on the case, but the Statement makes a statement by showing off the Apple branding on the back of the iPhone and only having the Otterbox brand carved into the side in a more subdued manner.

While Otterbox wouldn't comment about the branding on the case, the Statement is being sold exclusively at Apple Stores (as well as on the online Apple store and at otterbox.com), which might make one think that Apple preferred it's brand get a little more exposure.

The Statement case comes in black, gray, maroon and blue and lists for $40, though US customers can get it for $30 on the Otterbox website (this may be a limited time deal).

A version for the 6 Plus/6S Plus is also available in the same colors for the same price.

spigen-wallet-s13.jpg
29 of 71 Amazon

Spigen Wallet Case

The Spigen Wallet is a folio-style case that's available in a few different color options.

Price: Around $15 (£17, AU$16)

obliq-xtreme-pro14.jpg
30 of 71 Amazon

Obliq Xtreme Pro

Obliq makes a series of affordable tough cases that may or may not be knock offs of other tough cases. The Obliq Xtreme Pro is available in multiple colors, regularly $35, it can be found for less on Amazon right now. (Available worldwide, pricing for the Xtreme Pro converts to about £23 or AU$40.)

grovemade-iphone-6.png
31 of 71 Grovemade

Grovemade iPhone cases

Grovemade makes exquisite handmade wood cases for iPhones and iPads in maple and walnut. They aren't cheap.

We're showing the $90 iPhone 6 case in walnut in center (it will also be available for the 6 Plus for the same price). But it also comes in a $130 leather folio version (left), as well as a bumper for $60. iPhone 6S and 6S Plus versions are available now.

Grovemade ships internationally, and pricing converts to about £55 or AU$100 for the full iPhone 6/6 Plus case; £80 or AU$145 for the folio; and about £30 or AU$55 for the bumper.

luvvit-clear-grip10.jpg
32 of 71

Luvvit Clear Grip

The affordable Luvvit Clear Grip case, which comes in several color options, has an updated look for the iPhone 6S (it also works with the iPhone 6). I don't like it quite as much the old model, but it's still a good value.

Price: Around $10 (£6, AU$11)

versus-wallet-case20.jpg
33 of 71 Amazon

Verus Wallet case

Another somewhat inexpensive wallet-style case, the Verus Wallet comes in a few different colors for around $20 (£12, AU$22).

phonesuit-elite-6-battery-case80.jpg
34 of 71 David Carnoy/CNET

Phonesuit Elite battery case

Phonesuit has a series of iPhone 6 cases in a few different capacities and colors starting at $80 for the standard Elite version that doubles your iPhone's battery life.

What makes this battery cases a little different is that it has touch controls to turn on the case (no switch) and check battery life. There's also a companion app that allows you to configure the case to automatically start charging when you reach a certain battery level.

Note: We've confirmed that the existing iPhone 6 model is compatible with the iPhone 6S. Phonesuit also makes battery cases for the iPhone 6 Plus/6S Plus.

switcheasy-rave.jpg
35 of 71 SwitchEasy

SwitchEasy Rave

We liked SwitchEasy cases in the past and the company's got a full lineup of cases for the iPhone 6, including a couple of folio-style cases.

My current favorite is the Rave, which has a cover that folds origami-style in to a stand and has an integrated magnet. It retails for $25 for the iPhone 6/6S version and $30 for the 6 Plus/6S Plus version.

Prices for SwitchEasy's more basic cases start at around $13.

switcheasy-play25.jpg
36 of 71 SwitchEasy

SwitchEasy Play

SwitchEasy bills its Play case as one of lightest cases to feature full drop protection (from as high as 1.5m anyway). Available in two color options -- transparent black or white -- this one also has a built-in kickstand and comes with a lanyard. It costs $25 for both the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus versions.

reachcase-79x-extended.jpg
37 of 71 Antenna79

Antenna79 ReachCase 79X

Antenna started out making cases under the Pong brand that were billed as cases that absorbed radiation emitted by your phone. Those cases are still around but now the company has developed a new line of cases under its ReachCase brand that are designed to help you get a strong cell-phone signal.

On the back of the ReachCase 79X you'll find a sliding panel that extends downward, increasing the length of your phone. We're still in the process of testing the case to verify if it does what it claims to do, but it's nicely designed, is fairly lightweight, and offers good drop protection. It comes in white and black for the iPhone 6/6S and 6 Plus/6S Plus. Both cost $60.

Note: The 79X case you buy does have to match with the carrier you use so make sure you buy the version for AT&T if you use AT&T, for example.

silk-vault-slim-wallet.jpg
38 of 71 Silk

Silk Vault Slim Wallet

If you're looking for an inexpensive wallet case, the Silk Vault Slim Wallet fits the bill (and three credit cards) for less than $15. It's comes in a few different color options and the iPhone 6 Plus/6S Plus version costs the same.

cover-up-woodback-snap-case.jpg
39 of 71 Cover-up

Cover-up Woodback Snap case

Cover-Up makes slim cases with real wood backs that it calls Woodback Snap cases.

They're not all that protective (as I said, they're slim), but they do have a lot of character, come in a variety of wood types and aren't all that expensive at around $26-$35.

iPhone 6 Plus versions cost around the same price but start at $30 instead of $26.

catalyst-case-iphone6scasegreenpop.jpg
40 of 71 Catalyst

Catalyst waterproof case

If you're looking for an alternative to Lifeproof in waterproof case market, Catalyst has been steadily making improvements to its case designs with each new generation, although I still think Lifeproof case are slightly better.

At $70, the Catalyst for iPhone 6S, which comes in a few different color options, does cost a little less than the Lifeproof Fre. If you're an iPhone 6 Plus/6S Plus owner, the larger version of the Catalyst costs $5 more or $75.

speck-mightyshell-clear49-95.jpg
41 of 71 Speck

Speck MightyShell Clear

I really like Speck's MightyShell Clear. It started out as one of two Best Buy-exclusive cases Speck was serving up. It's gotten wider distribution and also come down from its $49.95 list price (it's also less at Amazon.com)

lifeproof-fre-power-6s.jpg
42 of 71 LifeProof

Lifeproof Fre Power

Lifeproof's waterproof battery case, Fre Power, is now available for the iPhone 6S for $130 (sorry, there's no iPhone 6S Plus version). It comes in three colors -- black, blue, and white -- and doubles the battery life of your iPhone while really protecting it.

Note: The earlier iPhone 6 version of the case is now being discounted, selling for $100 on Lifeproof's website.

mophie-juice-pack-h2pro.jpg
43 of 71 Mophie

Mophie Juice Pack H20 Pro

Mophie was recently purchased by accessory-maker Zagg, but not much is expected to change as the Mophie brand continues on with such new battery cases as its Juice Pack H20, which doubles the battery life of your phone. As its name implies, this is a waterproof case that is fully submersible and is designed to compete with Lifeproof's Fre Power, which also costs $130. The case recently became available for the iPhone 6S Plus/6 Plus with a slightly larger integrated battery.

Although they are really expensive and pretty bulky, I like both the Lifeproof Fre and Juice Back H20. Aside from the added weight, their one downside is they require you to use an included adapter to access the headphone jack (unless you have a very compact headphone plug such as the one found on Apple's Earpods).

Juice Pack H20 for iPhone 6S/6 (2,750mAh)

Juice Pack H20 for iPhone 6S Plus/6 Plus (2,950mAh)

tylt-energi-plus-iphone-699-99.jpg
44 of 71

Tylt Energi Plus

Tylt's Energi Plus is a slider case that includes an integrated battery to double the battery life of your iPhone 6/6S or iPhone 6 Plus/6S Plus. It comes in black and has been reduced from $100 to $80 (both versions cost the same).

The idea is that if you want to keep your iPhone in a slimmer case, you can. When you need extra juice, you then add the weightier battery attachment.

urbanarmor-folio-39-95.jpg
45 of 71 Amazon

Urban Armor cases

Urban Armor makes a version of this case with and without a cover. Both come in several different color options and are compatible with the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus.

The standard version pictured here costs $30 while the Folio version lists for $39.95.

moshi-sensecover45.jpg
46 of 71 Moshi

Moshi SenseCover

The Moshi SenseCover has a little window for caller ID info/time and you can answer calls without opening the case. The iPhone 6 version is compatible with the iPhone 6S and costs $45.

moshi-overture45.jpg
47 of 71 Moshi

Moshi Overture

I've always liked Moshi's smartphone cases and its current cases lines to fit the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. The Overture is a wallet-style folio cases that lists for $45.

new-trent-alixo.jpg
48 of 71 Amazon

New Trent LV6

New Trent's LV6 is a durable case with some faux leather on the back and costs a reasonable $20. Available in black or brown faux leather.

iphone6sclearcasegrey.jpg
49 of 71

Pelican Voyager case and holster

If you're looking for a tough case for your iPhone 6/6S, Pelican's $50 Voyager case is worth checking out (the 6 Plus/6S Plus version costs $60). What's nice about it is that it's tough without being too bulky.

It's available in several color options and comes with a holster that converts into a stand. There's no integrated screen protector, but if you put your phone in the holster upside down, the screen is protected.

pelican-underwater-marine-waterproof-iphone-case.jpg
50 of 71 Pelican

Pelican Marine

Pelican finally has a waterproof case for smartphones, the Marine. I thought it would be bulkier but was pleasantly surprised to find that it's not that much thicker than the company's Protector iPhone case. The Pelican Marine case currently comes in black and is available for the iPhone 6/6 Plus ($79.95) and the iPhone 6S/6S Plus ($89.95). I'd personally like to see the case cost closer to $50 to give you a reason to buy it over competing options from companies such as Lifeproof.

Price: $79.95-$89.95

kavaj-iphone-leather-case30.jpg
51 of 71 Kavaj

Kavaj 'Dallas' leather case

This one was first pointed out to us by a reader who's owned a couple of Kavaj cases. I like the folio-style "Dallas" Kavaj with the card slots on back. It's a decent value at $30 and also comes in black.

catalyst-waterproof70.jpg
52 of 71 Catalyst

Catalyst waterproof case

Lifeproof has been the dominant player in the waterproof case market, but there are some other good alternatives out there, one of the best of which is the Catalyst.

It comes in a few different colors (the one pictured is "Rescue Ranger") and some extra accessories are available for it, including a floating lanyard.

Like Lifeproof cases, the one downside is that not all headphone plugs will fit in the recessed headphone jack (the headphone comes with an adapter).

The case costs $70 for the iPhone 6 version and $75 for the iPhone 6 Plus version.

Note: These cases most likely aren't compatible with the 6S and 6S Plus but expect Catalyst to come out with updated cases in the coming months.

x-doria-scene-grip.jpg
53 of 71 X-Doria

X-Doria Scene Grip

X-Doria's got a full line of cases for the iPhone 6 and 6S (and 6 Plus/6S Plus), including the X-Doria Scene Grip (my favorite), which comes in a number of different colors. It's slim and protective, and, as its name implies, it's easy to grip.

Price: $25

sena-lugano-wallet54-95.jpg
54 of 71 Sena Cases

Sena Lugano

I've always been a fan of Sena cases, which incorporate real leather and look swanky, but they are a bit pricey. The $54.95 Lugano case you see here is a wallet case (but has no front) while the $79.95 Heritage Wallet Book (see next slide) has a front cover. They're available in a few different colors and come in versions for both the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. There's no price bump for the 6 Plus, which is a nice.

With the launch of the "S" series iPhones, the case hasn't changed but there are some new colors available.

sena-heritage-wallet-cognac.jpg
55 of 71 Sena Cases

Sena Heritage Wallet

Sena makes a few different real-leather wallet cases. My personal favorite is the Heritage Wallet Book, which is available for both the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus and comes in black or cognac (pictured).

While it's expensive at $79.95 (it's the same price for iPhone 6 or 6 Plus), it definitely has the look and feel of a higher-end case. On the inside you'll find slots for storing credit cards and the case folds into a stand.

For an additional $8, you can have the case monogrammed with your initials and with the arrival of the 6S/6S Plus the case now comes in additional colors.

See pricing and more info for Sena Heritage Wallet.

techarmor-flexprotect-9.png

Tech Armor FlexProtect

The Tech Armor Flex Protect is another inexpensive generic case on Amazon that retails for less than $15. It comes in three colors.

prong-pwr-case.jpg
57 of 71 Prong

Prong PWR case

Prong cases are unique in that their battery pack incorporates a foldaway plug that allows you to dock your iPhone in pack and plug it straight into the wall to recharge both the pack and your iPhone. Like some slider-style battery case -- this one more than doubles your iPhone's battery life -- the Prong PWR comes with a second slim case that you can use when you want to go minimalist and not strap on the extra weight and thickness of the battery pack (yes, it's a bit bulky).

The Prong case for iPhone 6/6S comes in black, blue, red, and translucent and costs $100. It currently isn't available for the iPhone 6 Plus/6S Plus.

apple-iphone-6-leather-case.jpg
58 of 71 Apple

Apple leather case

Apple's swankier leather case costs $45 for the iPhone 6S version and $49 for the iPhone 6S Plus version. It's a very likable case, though not exactly a bargain.

apple-iphone-6-silicone-cases.jpg
59 of 71 Apple

Apple Silicone cases

Apple's slim silicone case retails for $35 and comes in the colors you see here. It's nice, but needless to say, for what it is, it's pretty pricey.

NewerTech NuGuard KX

Newer Technology's NuGuard KX is a slim case that offers good protection, thanks to "state-of-the-art" X-Orbing gel technology.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the window on the back, but some people want you to know they're carrying an Apple phone.

Available in multiple color options and compatible with the iPhone 6/6S and 6 Plus/6S Plus.

Price: $29 (iPhone 6) and $39 (6 Plus)

Element Case makes a few cases for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. I personally like its folio case, the Soft-Tec Wallet, which costs $49.99 and is compatible with the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus.

Griffin Survivor Summit

Griffin has a full set of iPhone 6/6S cases, including its flagship tough case, the Survivor Summit ($50) as well as slimmer version called the Summit Journey ($50). Both come in several color options.

Logitech Protection Plus case

I'm a fan of Logitech's Protection Plus case ($34.95), which is well designed and features some metal integrated the back of the case that makes the case stick to magnets (you can buy inexpensive magnetic mounts that attach to your car's air vent).

We're still waiting to confirm whether the iPhone 6 version fits the iPhone 6S, but the case is being discounted by as much as 50 percent to less than $20, so it may be on the verge of being discontinued.

The case is designed to work with Logitech's +Drive car mount ($50) and +Trip ($30, £25, AU$30), a small but powerful magnet that attaches to your car's air vent. I personally use the +Trip.

Jimmycase

If you're someone who likes the idea of being able to slip a few credit cards and some money into a wallet-style case but don't like the whole folio-style concept, the Jimmycase ($39) is worth checking out.

It's made in the US, has a real wood back, and its elastic band holds up to six credit cards securely.

Mophie Space Pack

Mophie's Space Pack cases combine extra battery power with extra memory for storing all those photos and videos you shoot (yes, it's easy to run out of iPhone memory).

The only downside is their somewhat high price. For instance, entry-level iPhone 6/6 Plus models with 32GB of built-in storage cost $150 and jump to $300 for the 128GB versions.

No word yet on whether Mophie's current battery cases will be compatible with the new "S" models, but we doubt they will.

Many more cases to come...

Of course, these all just represent the tip of the iceberg. In the coming months, expect to see many more cases hit the market. We'll be updating this round up frequently as new cases arrive.

Pad&Quill Woodline Series

Pad&Quill made a name for itself with its folio-style hand-carved wood cases, but now it's branching out into thin wood cases. Using "real hand finished hardwood with DuPont Kevlar," it claims its new Woodline Series ($50) is the thinnest, strongest wood case on the market.

Neisha Art Case by Shapeways

Inspired by Mandala flowers, this stylish case by Neisha Art was constructed and produced by a 3D printer, which makes the finished product slightly grainy and easier to grip.

Caseology Glacier series

We're fans of most of the Caseology cases, but the Glacier series really sets it off with a soft matte finish and a supple texture that protects your smartphone from bumps and bruises.

Fuz Felt Case

It's probably not the best material to have pressed against your skin in the summer months, but nevertheless the Fuz Felt case is unique in its soft, precision-cut design. The felt also absorbs shock and does it without adding bulk to the phone.
