The feature-packed Arcsoft Simplicam could give its Wi-Fi security camera competitors cause for concern.
A smart security cam for less?
The Arcsoft Simplicam costs $150. That's $50 less than the Dropcam Pro and $40 less than the Samsung SmartCam HD Pro.
Arcsoft partnered with Closeli to use its cloud streaming services and app interface.
You can view and adjust your Simplicam settings on the Closeli Android and iOS mobile apps as well as the Closeli web app.
Cloud storage prices start at $5/month or $50/year for 1 day of saved footage and up to 1 hour of saved clips.
There's also a $14/month or $140/year option for 11 days of recordings and up to 3 hours of saved clips and a $23/month or $230/year option for 21 days of recordings and up to 5 hours of saved clips.
Without cloud recording services, you still get live 720p streaming and motion and sound alerts.
A cloud recording subscription adds a face recognition feature.
Face recognition can detect up to 10 faces (friends, family, any other frequent visitors), so that everyone else is considered and "unrecognized person."
Like its main competition, Simplicam offers two-way talk and night vision.
It also has a scheduled recordings option so you can program the camera to turn on or off based on your preferences.
