Accessories for the Microsoft Zune HD
Living in a non-iPod world isn't easy. Sure, there's a lot to love about Microsoft's line of Zune MP3 players, but when it comes to shopping for accessories, you start feeling like the only vegetarian at a steakhouse. Don't fret, brave Zune-ster, there are plenty of worthy accessories made for the Zune.
iHome ZN9 Clock Radio for Zune
The iHome ZN9 Zune alarm clock ($99) can hold its own against the best offerings for iPod. It offers bedside-worthy sound quality, Zune MP3 player compatibility, AM/FM radio, battery backup, dual alarms, an attractive design, and sophisticated features.
Kicker ZK500
The Kicker ZK500 ($299) is hands-down the loudest, most bass-heavy speaker dock we've ever heard. It looks a bit evil, but if you want to play your Zune loud and proud, the Kicker is the way to go.
Microsoft Zune HD AV Dock
The Zune HD AV Dock ($89) made by Microsoft is a great buy, considering that it offers a charging dock with both HDMI and composite video outputs, digital and analog audio output, a remote control, and a portable USB wall charger.
Microsoft Zune Car Pack (third generation)
In-car FM transmitters allow you to broadcast your MP3 player to your car's radio radio, delaying the day you inevitably upgrade your car stereo with a line-input jack. As these things go, the Zune's transmitter ($79) is better than most, offering a sleek design, station presets, and an easy way to charge Zune.
iRecord Pro
The iRecord Pro ($249) offers a one-touch method for encoding video from your TV right to your Zune. It doesn't come cheap and it doesn't offer scheduled recording, but if you just can't live without archiving your soaps to your Zune, this is the way to go.
zLive NS108B speaker dock
The DLO Auto Charger ($29) charges your Zune using your car's cigarette lighter port. A multicolored light on the face of the plug indicates the battery status of the Zune.
zLive NS108B speaker dock
The zLive NS108B speaker dock ($59) isn't the prettiest, the loudest, or the most feature-packed Zune speaker we've come across, but it is one of the least expensive.
DLO Action Jacket
The DLO Action Jacket ($29.99) allows you to secure the Zune HD to your arm or belt while maintaining the ability to to operate its touchscreen. Perfect for sporty types.
The Incipio underGROUND case ($19) offers one of the classier ways to transport your Zune HD, using a combination of suede and charcoal gray felt. The same manufacturer offers two other case designs for the Zune HD, as well.
The DLO Jam Jacket ($19.99) wraps the Zune HD in a layer of black silicone and includes a cable wrap on the back for storing your earbuds.
