A closer look at oven testing (graphs)
Oven results, straight from the CNET Appliances test kitchen.
Biscuits (baked at 450 degrees F)
In this graph, we plot the average temperature in each oven while we bake a batch of biscuits using standard settings. That dip at the start is the door opening. The Whirlpool errs a bit on the warm side in this test, but does a nice job overall.
Biscuits (convection baked at 450 degrees F)
Here's the same test repeated using each oven's convection baking mode. All three ovens run a bit on the cool side in this test, which isn't that unusual for convection cooking.
Whole chicken, butterflied (convection roasted at 375 degrees F)
Here, we're tracking the average temperature in each oven as we convection roast a whole chicken. You can see that the red Whirlpool line has the biggest ups and downs, meaning that the oven isn't doing as good a job of maintaining a steady temperature as the other two.
Whole chicken, butterflied (convection roasted at 375 degrees F)
These graphs show how long it took each oven to cook those chickens. The target here is one hour and fifteen minutes. Because it couldn't hold steady at 375, Whirlpool needed an extra fifteen minutes.
White rice (boiling pot simmered on low for 15 minutes)
Now, we're looking at the cooktop -- specifically, the temperature of a pot of white rice simmering on low after being brought to an initial boil. The Electrolux and the Whirlpool models are nearly identical, while KitchenAid simmers a few degrees warmer.
