2013 Ford C-Max Energi plugs in for maximum mileage (pictures)

Ford's new plug-in hybrid drives under electric power for up to 21 miles, and reverts to a standard hybrid when its electric range is used up.

Along with a gasoline filler on the rear right fender, the C-Max Energi also includes a plug-in port on the left front fender. It will charge off of 110 volts in about 7 hours, or from a 240-volt source in 2.5 hours.

The hybrid power plant combines a 141-horsepower 2-liter engine with a 118-horsepower electric motor. Total system output is rated at 188 horsepower.
