In addition to the distinctive badging, the Pebble Beach edition LS 600h L also sports Truffle Mica exterior paint combined with an exclusive two-tone alabaster and black leather trim interior with dark gray maple wood trim.

Lexus chose for the first time to designate a Pebble Beach Edition of the LS 600h L.

Although hybrid technology is typically associated with small, thrifty cars, the LS 600h L is the largest sedan and most expensive vehicle Toyota/Lexus makes. In its Pebble Beach Edition trim, this luxo-barge also packs in the most tech, with standard Advanced Pre-Collision System, the Advanced Parking Guidance System, and roof mounted LCD/DVD player.

For the sixth year in a row, Lexus also revealed a Pebble Beach Edition of its SC 430 convertible; and for the sixth year in a row, not much has changed. The only differences between a standard SC 430 and the Pebble Beach edition is the exclusive two-tone ecru and black leather trim interior with maple wood trim, special edition badging and a standard spoiler.

To kick off the fourth quarter 2008 launch of the new CC, Volkswagen of America, Inc. debuted a CC Gold Coast edition at the Pebble Beach. The CC is quite a looker, imposing the athletic proportions of a coupe on what is actually a quite large sedan. Unique to the Gold Coast edition are a high-end tri-coat paint and 19 inch propeller style wheels

Also unique to the CC Gold Coast Edition is a latte macchiatto leather interior with sport seats and bronze piping.

Though VW didn't release any official cabin tech specs, it's not a stretch to assume that the Gold Coast Edition CC will be blessed with VW's newest hard-drive based navigation system.

The Gold Coast Edition is motivated by the larger of the CC's two possible engine choices, a 280 horsepower 3.6 liter TFSI engine, which is turbocharged and direct injected. The gears are selected automatically or manually through the six speed DSG gearbox, which VW seems to be putting into all of its vehicles these days.

Stepping up a few tiers on the luxury ladder, Bugatti debuted its mostly-all-new Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport. We say almost, because the Grand Sport is powered by the same 1001 horsepower quad-turbocharged 16-cylinder engine as the standard Veyron 16.4, but features a new lightweight removable hardtop.

Other new features include LED headlights, a new wheel design, a stiffer chassis to compromise for the lack of a fixed roof, a backup camera, a new sound system designed for convertible use.

With the hard top in place, the Grand Sport is capable of a top speed of 253 mph. Remove the roof and the Veyron will limit you to a modest 217 mph, making the Grand Sport the world's fastest convertible.

The Grand Sport isn't a "true" convertible and removing the hard top means leaving it at home, so in the case of rain the Bugatti comes with an emergency soft top stowed in its trunk. Installing this cloth top will, however, electronically limit the Veyron to a paltry 80 mph top speed.

At the top of the exclusivity scale sits the Pininfarina Hyperion, a one-off custom-built car derived from the Rolls-Royce Drophead Coupe. The Hyperion brings new meaning to the term "luxo-barge" with its carbon fiber bodywork with details are applied using a technology adopted in boat building. The doors were made of solid wood by craftsmen who specialize in creating components for luxury boats.

Pininfarina, in creating the custom Hyperion, moved the cockpit further back towards the rear of the car, while removing the rear seats entirely.

The soft top stows under wood cover, continuing the nautical theme. Back up front, the elongated hood terminates under a wood cover, which houses two new small storage compartments.

Though not present in the flesh, Ford Motor Co. confirmed production of the Lincoln MKT Concept. The luxury crossover will feature Ford's new EcoBoost engine, which essentially is a turbocharged six cylinder tuned for economy.
