The Holden Hurricane was a show-stopper when it debuted at the 1969 Melbourne Motor Show. The Hurricane has recently been restored and will be on display at the Motorclassica car show at the Melbourne Royal Exhibition Building from Oct. 21 to 23.
Codenamed RD 001, the Hurricane is a midengine, rear-wheel drive, two-seat sports car that used technology that was years ahead of its time.
The Hurricane used advanced technologies and techniques when it came to the power train. It was powered by an experimental 4.2-liter (253-cubic-inch) V8 that was a precursor to the Holden V8 engine program that entered production in late 1969.
