PHP tool company Zend Technologies on Monday named former BMC Software executive Harold Goldberg as CEO.

Goldberg, who was senior vice president of worldwide marketing, replaces Doron Gerstel of last year.

In a statement, Goldberg said that the venture-backed company is on a "sharp growth trajectory being fueled by both the acceptance of open source, and the trend toward new, service oriented programming models."
