Yo, Hodor app simply messages 'Hodor' to your friends

Forget ravens. The Yo, Hodor app uses messaging to get the word to your buddies, so long as that word is "Hodor."

The app sends the word "Yo" to your friends. But that app isn't the only famous thing with a one-word specialty. Hodor, the hulking character from "Game of Thrones" who carries young Brandon Stark around on his back, only ever says one word: "Hodor."

The Yo, Hodor app for iOS exists as a sort of celebration of both the Yo app and Hodor. Like Yo, it simply sends a "Hodor" to your friends. You get a push notification along with a "Hodor" sound clip when someone Hodors you.

The free app is extremely simple. You fill in a username and then add friends. In my case, I added complete strangers by searching for obvious usernames like "TheHound," "TyrionLannister," and "Bran." I hereby apologize for Hodoring you folks even though you don't know me. My username is "AgentCooper" if anyone wants to Hodor me back. I'll leave my app running until I get sick of being Hodored.

Yo, Hodor comes from programmer Tyler Hedrick. There is no Android version, but Hedrick says he would be happy to work with an Android developer if one volunteers.

Yo, Hodor joins a surprisingly robust world of Hodor-related apps. There's already a Hodor keyboard replacement app and several different Hodor translation apps. It will give you something to do while you're lounging on your replica Iron Throne. Hodor.
