Yet Another solution for installing Final Cut Pro 3.0.4 on 2003 Macs

Several weeks ago we reported problems attempting to install applications that require a Mac OS 9 boot on 2003 Macs, which only (officially) support booting into Mac OS X. We've since published a number of workarounds, but have now discovered what appears to be the simplest solution:

Install the Final Cut Pro 3.0.1 upgrade. This will install whether or not you have Final Cut Pro 3 installed. Install Final Cut Pro 3.0 from the CD. Run the Final Cut Pro 3.0 Application. Authorize your copy by entering your serial number. Quit. Then Install Final Cut Pro 3.0.4.
