Yahoo's slide into new search

Yahoo showcased a new search technology Friday on Yahoo Next, an experimental site devoted to the latest services from the company's research and development lab, but which aren't ready for prime time. The search engine, called Mindset, lets people reconfigure results on demand (with a dynamic slider) to display more commerical or more research-focused sites. The concept is similar features that MSN is testing in its new search tool, which lets people set a scale toward receiving results tailored more to their needs.
