A brief who's who of the executive restructuring Yahoo announced Thursday.
Yahoo announced a handful ofon Thursday. Here's a handy guide to who's doing what at the Web company. These changes follow an , which Yahoo says was partly voluntary and partly driven by management decisions.
Chief executive officer
Yahoo co-founder Jerry Yang will stay on as CEO, a position he has held since taking over for Terry Semel in June 2007. Yang founded the company with David Filo after creating "Jerry Yang's Guide to the World Wide Web" nearly 15 years ago.
Susan Decker will keep her spot as president. The former chief financial officer and head of the advertiser group took on the role of president at the same time Yang took over the reins at Yahoo.
Ash Patel will head up a new audience products division. Patel was one of Yahoo's earliest engineers and most recently held the title of executive vice president of the company's platforms and infrastructure division. Patel will oversee several consumer products, including Yahoo Mail, Messenger, My Yahoo, the main Yahoo.com page, and Flickr. He will report to Decker.
Go-to-market activity for U.S. region
Hilary Schneider, who joined Yahoo in September 2006, will be in charge of a second group, go-to-market operations for the United States region. She had been executive vice president of Yahoo Global Partner Solutions, a division encompassing Yahoo's sales, corporate partnerships, and online channel groups, a post she held for about a year. Schneider will report to Decker.
A yet-to-be-named executive will head up a third group centralizing and running a Yahoo-wide strategy regarding use of data and analysis. That person will also report to Decker and will be announced in the next few weeks.
Chief technology officer
Aristotle Balogh will stay in his current role, in charge of building and running Yahoo's computing infrastructure. He will now oversee several new groups in the search domain, with David Ku leading the advertising technology group; Prabhakar Raghavan leading search strategy; and Tuoc Luong leading search products on an interim basis.
Venkat Panchapakesan will lead the new audience technology group. The group works closely with Patel's products group to build and run the technology used by that group. Panchapakesan now reports to Balogh.
Another new group will focus on cloud computing and data infrastructure.
