Yahoo video and Mac OS X browser compatibility

Yahoo video and Mac OS X browser compatibility

CNET staff

MacFixIt reader Scott Rose reports that virtually all of Yahoo's video content is unavailable to any Mac OS X Web browser, including Safari, even with the latest release of Windows Media Player installed.

Scott writes:

"Whether you're at the SportsStream section of Yahoo's website or the Music section of Yahoo's website or the TV section of Yahoo's website or The Apprentice section of Yahoo's website, or one of the many other areas of Yahoo's website, Yahoo is almost completely incompatible with Mac OS X. There is virtually no area of Yahoo's website that allows Mac OS X users to watch the videos on their website, even if you already have Windows Media Player installed.

"The only notable exceptions to this are the 'movie trailers' section of Yahoo's website and the 'news' section of Yahoo's website... where Yahoo allows Mac OS X users to watch just some of the videos on their website. But even in the 'movie trailers' and 'news' sections of Yahoo's website, still the vast majority of videos are simply unviewable to Mac OS X users

"Yahoo and Microsoft have both been unresponsive to our numerous repeated emails requesting help on this matter."
