XCAR Awards 2013: Best Classic

We love classic cars here at XCAR, and we get the opportunity to drive some amazing specimens on our travels. We take a look back at our favourite specimens.

The short list for our award for best classic car we have driven so far on XCAR would not be complete without the E30 M3. The M3 Coupe might now be dead in favour of the new M4, but this origin of the species was incredibly fun to drive.

Sticking with BMW, the M1 was an ultra rare supercar that we were dying to get our hands on. BMW may one day return to supercars and if this is anything to go by, they'd be welcome back to the club.

The 1973 Rolls-Royce Corniche that we borrowed from the London Classic Car Club was more fun than something that large should be. Driving it through the capital of the country of its birth was like slotting a last jigsaw puzzle piece into place.

The classic BMW roadsters that we got our hands on opened our eyes to just how accomplished BMW was at building cars, so early into their existence. The roadsters we drove were impeccably well maintained and put a smile on the faces of the whole team.

The winner, though, could be none other than the MKIII Ford GT40 that we drove. Getting behind the wheel of such a legend was a privilege and an experience that we are unlikely to ever forget.
