Xbox One pegged for 30 November, with £400 pre-order
Microsoft's new console has been lumbered with a high price tag, though that cost may fall towards the end of the year.
Gamers desperate to splash out on Microsoft's blocky new Xbox One console needn't wait until Christmas, as UK retailers have already started taking pre-orders for the upcoming gaming gadget.
Green-hued tech retailer Zavvi is asking for a whopping £400 for the Xbox One, which was revealed yesterday at a bespoke Microsoft shindig.
That's a very high price, even for a new console, though Zavvi's 'price promise' policy should mean that if the price comes down before the console goes on sale, you'll only end up paying the final price.
Fingers crossed the price does tumble a little -- Sony famously launched the PS3 with a whopping £425 price tag, leaving gamers feeling irked.
Zavvi's also pegged the Xbox One as having a 30 November release date. I suspect that could be subject to change, but feels about right -- Microsoft promised that the console would be out this year, and it'll want to ensure its new toy is lining shop shelves in time for the annual Christmas spend-a-thon.
Meanwhile Game and Blockbuster have also kicked off pre-order plans in the UK, with both shops asking for a £20 deposit to secure your console when it's released.
The Xbox One wants to dominate your living room, with new features including the power to play live TV. It won't be backwards compatible with Xbox 360 games though, so your existing disc collection won't work with the new system.
