World's Fair of Virtual Worlds coming

An Italian journalist is planning to host the first "world's fair" of virtual worlds. All the major titles will be represented, and it will take place next month in Second Life.

If you've followed media reports about virtual worlds, this site among them, you might think the only one that exists is Second Life. But, of course, there are many others.

Now, Mario Gerosa, an Italian journalist, is planning to show the world just that.

He is planning to put on, next month, the first "world's fair" of virtual worlds.

The event will take place in Second Life and will give other titles, such as World of Warcraft, Entropia Universe and others, an opportunity to present themselves.

"A dragon will be in the World of Warcraft stand," Gerosa wrote on his blog, "while there will be an astronaut in theEntropia Universe stand."

No telling what the representatives for or Eve Online will look like.

In addition, Gerosa plans to have each service provide advice on how to set up a business or a new venture in their virtual world.

This is an ambitious project, and given that it's taking place in Second Life, it's not at all clear how much interest there will be in the other virtual worlds. But, it's a nice gesture to the fact that the world of virtual worlds has many more than one title. And let's hope that there is in fact broad interest.

Details about Apple's 'spaceship' campus from the drone pilot who flies over it

MyithZ has one of the most popular aerial photography channels on YouTube. With the exception of revealing his identity, he is an open book as he shares with CNET's Brian Tong the drone hardware he uses to capture flyover shots of the construction of Apple's new campus, which looks remarkably like an alien craft.
