Work-around for eliminating error message at AOL logon

CNET staff
Related to our recent coverage of problems with AOL connections: Charlie Downs received the following error message when attempting to connect to AOL via an iMac running Mac OS 8.6: "To run an Internet application via AOL, you must sign on first. To run an Internet application via an ISP/LAN, you must restore your TCP configuration..." This appeared each time he attempted to log on. Dismissing the message would allow a log-on, but it was very annoying. He contacted AOL and they told him to disable the Web Sharing extension and control panel. It worked.
