Will Google+ get rid of (this) Steve Jobs?
Google+ is fighting to ensure that real names--or at least real people--are on its site. So perhaps it might soon address someone called Steve Jobs. For this is most assuredly not Apple's CEO.
Today, we must help Google be judgmental.
It doesn't come easily to the company that fosters a "do no evil" policy. However,, the naming policy on Google+ is creating confusions greater than those in addled heads of most members of Congress. So judgments must be made.
First, we must help Google decide what to do about Steve Jobs. Thanks to a tweet by GigaOm's Mathew Ingram, I can confirm that the Apple CEO has a Google+ account. Google, though, doesn't seem to have yet decided whether this is the real Steve Jobs.
On the, um, plus side, this Steve Jobs has a perfect profile picture that is unquestionably of the man from Apple. Moreover, he has these six luminaries in his circle: Mark Zuckerberg, Sergey Brin, Steve Wozniak, Larry Page, Linus Torvalds, and Vic Gundotra.
On the other hand, the Google machines might be suspicious of this Steve Jobs' "About" page. It reads: "I'm looking for a
There are some who will believe that, late one night, the Apple CEO took minutes, if not hours, out of his day in order to pen this self-description. These people will also believe that there is a tiny hamster that makes the records go around inside their iPods.
Still, some fence-sitters might be wondering whether this Steve Jobs has posted anything. Yes, I can reveal. Just one thing, posted yesterday: "We are working on something you've been expecting for years."
Will the Google+ machine now go into action with draconian measures? Will it join Twitter in coming up with a? Will this Steve Jobs' quips be just as appealing as or, let us not forget, the ?
