Widescreen on Apple Cinema Display

Philip Pitner writes: "I'm surprised that you saw a wide-screen DVD taking up the full screen (see previous item). Over on Apple's Tech Exchange, people are quite upset that the shipping version of the Cinema cannot be used for wide-screen DVDs. Even the newest Apple DVD Player 2.0 will only recognize 4:3 monitors and not 16:9 monitors. No word from Apple on whether they have an update to fix this."

True enough. None-the-less, a widescreen movie was playing just fine when I saw it at the Expo. I wish I had taken the time to explore this more with the Apple rep at the booth.
