Why was Franco so boring at Oscars? Twitter.

James Franco may have been listless as a co-host of the Oscars, but his Twitter account was on fire as he posted photos and video live from backstage and onstage during the event.

Some of the videos, including ones featuring total darkness and muffled sounds from the inside of his pocket, are more interesting than what was actually happening in front of the audience.

There are videos of Franco being dressed up in drag, laughing with others offstage, and getting a hand massage from his co-host, Anne Hathaway. There are photos of him with Oprah and Billy Crystal and flipping the bird while dressed in drag. For some of the postings it's clear that he's holding the recording device (his iPhone?) in his hand. Other shots are obviously taken by someone else and show him holding his phone.

In a video taken of him right before the show's start, Franco speculates on how the night will go for him: "It might be bad; it might be horrible."

I hate to say it, but he was right.
