When, where, and how to buy the Galaxy S5

Samsung's latest flagship smartphone includes a faster processor, bigger display, and an improved camera. The company took it a step further with the Galaxy S5. Not only is the device dust and water resistant, but it's also equipped with both a fingerprint scanner and a heart rate sensor.

The Galaxy S5 is slated to be one of the top selling smartphones of the year. Here's everything you need to know about getting your hands on one as soon as possible.

The Galaxy S5 went on sale around the globe on Friday, April 11.

Where can I get one?

Samsung's latest flagship smartphone is now available in-store and online from all major U.S. carriers, select regional carriers, and retailers like Best Buy, Amazon, RadioShack, and Walmart.

Carriers

Verizon

The nation's largest carrier is offering the Galaxy S5 for $249 when signing a new two-year agreement. To sweeten the deal, Verizon is throwing in a $50 mail-in rebate debit card, ultimately reducing the price to $199.

The company is also extending its "buy one, get one free" campaign for the Galaxy S5. Customers can get a second S5, a Samsung Ativ SE, or an HTC One M8 for free with a new two-year agreement.

Verizon Edge customers can pick up the S5 for $25.22 per month for 24 months. Alternatively, the device can also be purchased outright for $599.

AT&T

AT&T customers can get the Galaxy S5 for $199 with a new two-year agreement. If you are part of the company's AT&T Next 18, or Next 12 program you can get the device for $25 per month or $32.50 a month, respectively. The device can also be had for $649.99 without a contract.

Sprint

Sprint is offering the device for $199 after $50 mail-in rebate card and a new two-year agreement. Subscribers to one of the carrier's "Framily" plan can get the Galaxy S5 for $0 down, with payments of $27.09 per month for 23 months and a last month payment of $26.92. Sprint is also offering a free Galaxy Tab 3 tablet to new Framily plan customers. The phone can be purchased outright from the carrier for $649.

T-Mobile

T-Mobile is also offering the Galaxy S5 for $0 down and monthly payments of $27.50 for 24 months. The phone can be bought outright from the carrier for $660.

U.S. Cellular

The Galaxy S5 can be picked up from U.S. Cellular for $199.99 with a new two-year agreement.

C-Spire

C-Spire customers will have to wait a few weeks to get their hands on the Galaxy S5. The carrier recently announced that it will offer the device in May. No pricing information has been announced.

MetroPCS, Virgin Mobile, and Boost Mobile have also confirmed plans to offer the Galaxy S5, however no pricing or release information has been announced.

Retailers

Best Buy

Best Buy is offering the Galaxy S5 from Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint for $199 with a new two-year agreement, while a MetroPCS model can be had for $649.

Amazon

Amazon has AT&T and Sprint models of the Galaxy S5 for for $189 with a new two-year agreement. The retailer was offering the device to new Verizon customers for $99 on contract, and those upgrading from an existing device could pick it up for $149 with a new two-year agreement. It appears the Verizon deal has sold out, though.

RadioShack

RadioShack is offering the Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint models of the Galaxy S5 in-store only. The retailer is also throwing in a free 90 subscription to Google Play Music to sweeten the deal.

Sam's Club

Sam's Club members can pickup an AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint model of the Galaxy S5 for $164.88 with a new two-year agreement.

Walmart

Walmart has AT&T, Verizon, and U.S. Cellular versions of the Galaxy S5 for $168 with a new two-year agreement.

Options

Samsung has announced that the Galaxy S5 will be available in Charcoal Black, Shimmery White, Electric Blue, and Copper Gold with either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage Carriers and retailers, however, only have the 16GB model up for preorder in either white or black. It's unclear which carriers or retailers will offer other colors and options.
