When, where, and how to buy Apple's new Macs
Here's everything you need to know about picking up a new MacBook Pro with Retina Display or a Mac Pro.
Apple on Tuesday announced refreshes to its Mac and MacBook line of computers at a special fall press event in San Francisco. The MacBook Pro with Retina Display received a boost to Intel's new Haswell processor and improved battery life.
The 13-inch model is lighter and thinner than its predecessor, and includes a fourth-generation dual-core Intel Core i5 processor clocked at 2.4GHz, 4GB RAM, Iris Graphics, and a 128GB solid-state drive. The 15-inch model is equipped with a fourth-generation 2.0GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, Iris Pro Graphics, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage.
Both models feature Thunderbolt 2 ports, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and OS X 10.9 Mavericks. The 13-inch model is rated with up to 9 hours of battery life, compared with 8 hours for the larger 15-inch model.
The company also gave additional details about its completely redesigned Mac Pro. The cheapest model of the Mac Pro features a 3.7GHz quad-core Intel Xeon E5 processor, 12GB RAM, dual AMD FirePro graphics cards, and 256GB storage. The high-end desktop also includes support for up to 1 terabyte of flash storage and 4K HDMI video.

When
Apple previously showcased the Mac Pro at WWDC this past summer, but no release date or price was announced. The company revealed on Tuesday that the Mac Pro will start at $2,999 and be available for purchase starting in December.
The new 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display will begin shipping today for $1,299 and $1,999, respectively.
Where
All products can be purchased from Apple's online store, as well as the company's brick-and-mortar locations on their respective release dates. Online orders for the new MacBook Pro with Retina Display will ship within 24 hours, and, according to an Apple Store representative, new MacBook models will begin arriving in Apple Stores nationwide later this week.
Retailers like Best Buy, Amazon, New Egg, and Micro Center will also offer Apple's computers in stores and online later this week.
Options
Apple is offering the 13-inch Retina Display MacBook Pro in three different price options -- $1,299, $1,499, and $1,799. The middle tier upgrades the RAM to 8GB and brings a 256GB solid-state drive, while the most expensive model delivers a faster 2.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor with 512GB of flash storage.
Not enough? The company also offers an upgraded 2.8GHz dual-core Intel Core i7 processor and up to 16GB of RAM, however this configuration will add $400 to the most expensive model.
The 15-inch Retina Display MacBook Pro can be upgraded with a 2.6GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, and 1TB of flash storage, all of which add a whopping $1,300 to the price. A second model is also offered for $2,599.00, this includes a 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, and an NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M graphics card with 2GB of VRAM.
The Mac Pro can be configured with up to 64GB of RAM, a 12-core Intel Xeon E5 processor with 30MB of L3 cache, and 1TB of flash storage.
