Registration number glitch explained What's new in 3.8.1 The Now Up-to-Date & Contact Read Me file lists what is fixed in the 3.8.1 update - and promises another update soon to come (thanks, Paul Greenfield):
  • Fixed bug in QuickContact control panel that caused problems in avariety of applications including Office 98, AOL 4.0, Photoshop 5.5 and several others.
  • Fixed bug in QuickContact and QuickDay control panels that could cause the order of menus in the menu bar to switch locations.
  • There is one problem that we were unable to resolve in time for this release. There are reports of an issue that could cause the QuickDay Control Panel to crash. We are working on resolving this issue and hope to have a fix available within a few days. The temporary work around if you are running into this problem is to disable the QuickDay Control Panel. We shipped this partial fix because we felt that it was important that we resolve the issues mentioned above as soon as possible.

Registration number As for the registration number issue (mentioned last time), Edward Khutoretskiy replies: "I too have experienced problems with server registration as mentioned in your article today. Downloading and installing 3.8.1 updater didn't help. A call to Power On Software's Tech Support revealed that in order for the 3.8 registration number to be recognized by the NUT&C 3.8.x Public Contact/Event/Web Publisher servers, you have to download and install full 3.8.1 version, not just the updater."

Update: 3.8.1 fixes Netware glitch! Kenneth Marcus writes: "Last week I reported that the NUTD&C control panels/menubar items in 3.8 broke my connection to my Netware/MacIPX network. I'm happy to report that 3.8.1 fixed that problem."
