Google Glass has officially hit the fashion runway.
Google's smart eyeware was seen on the faces of several models at a Diane von Furstenberg (DVF) event yesterday that kicked off New York Fashion Week. The show marked a collaboration between Google and von Furstenberg that teamed up technology with the latest fashions, and the first time the high-tech specs made a public appearance at a non-Google event.
"I am so excited to introduce Glass to the fashion world and use this revolutionary technology to give everyone a unique perspective into fashion," von Furstenberg said in a statement.
Beyond just showing off the glasses, the models also played the role of videographer.
The video will feature a behind-the-scenes look at the von Furstenberg event shot through the glasses worn by the models.
"Beauty, style and comfort are as important to Glass as the latest technology," Google co-founder Sergey Brin said in a statement. "We are delighted to bring Glass to the runway together with DVF."
The idea behind Google's Project Glass is to pair your glasses with your smartphone so that you can access and view information directly through the spectacles. At Google's I/O conference in June, Brin said he expects to.
