Cocktail is one of several system maintenance utilities available for OS X, and provides a vast array of options for tweaking and customizing the OS interface, networking, filesystems, and various applications and features that come with your Mac (Safari, Expose, Address Book, Backup, Disk Utility, Mail). One recent and welcome addition to this popular program is the detection for malware detection, which allows for the removal of various worms, trojan horses from your system.

The latest version (4.3.2) provides the following fixes and features.

  • Added clearing of the Inqtana.B worm.
  • Fixed an issue with secure deletion of files installed by trojans and worms.
  • Improvements on the clear font caches procedure.
  • Addresses an issue in which Adobe Illustrator font caches were not deleted from users home directory.
  • Improvements on the clear Internet caches procedure.
  • Fixed compatibility issues with Safari 4 Public Beta.
  • Updated Automator actions.
  • Adds compatibility with the upcoming Mac OS X 10.5.7.

Cocktail is distributed as a universal binary with separate versions available for Leopard (10.5), Tiger (10.4), and Panther (10.3). This utility is shareware with the exception of the Panther version which is free.
