Week-end Updates

a. Retrospect 4.0, Dantz Development's new version of its backup utility, has been released. The major attraction is increased speed, especially over a network.

b. A bug fix Mac Restart 2.0.2 is out.

c. CopyPaste 3.3.3 is out. The upgrade features a new collection of Handy Internet Tools.

d. Jeremy's Control Strip Modules 1.7.1 is out. The new version of this collection of modules, which replace and enhance Apple's standard suite, implements new sleep code in the Battery CSM and the Sleep CSM to prevent occasional crashes.

e. ICMP Loggermakes a log of incoming TCP/IP ping packets. It's especially useful for those who want to track the source of "ping of death" attempts. (Thanks, John Bafford.)

f. If you have Adobe SiteMill 1.0 or PageMill 2.0, you can download and use what appears to be a final version of SiteMill 2.0 (you'll need a serial number). Adobe is also selling an upgrade for $19.95 that includes Photoshop LE. Call (800) 411-8657. SiteMill and PageMill will now be bundled together.
(I fixed thed URL for this; it should work now.)

g. Qualcomm PureVoice is currently out in beta version. This utility will eventually be included with Eudora. It allows for the automatic recording, attaching and playing back of sounds in email messages. A major attraction is that its sound files take up only 1/10 (or less) of the disk space needed for a wav file.
